A late 19th century French ormolu and Sevres style porcelain mantel clock, surmounted with Cupid beside two lovebirds, with Vincenti eight day signed countwheel movement, the Sevres plaques painted with cherubs and flowers, width 9.75in. depth 5in. height 10.25in.CONDITION: Overall a little dirty and dusty but underneath that in good order, ormolu is a mid gold slightly matted tone, a little dirtier on the upper surfaces, enamel dial looks original but numerous hairline cracks and a small loss near 4 o'clock, hour hand present but no minute hand, does not appear to have ever been glazed, porcelain plaques good, one small section of beading loose from the left hand side but still present, feet a little wobbly, comes with pendulum but no key, movement looks complete but not tested for timekeeping.

Vincenti et Cie, Paris a boulle mantel clock: the eight-day duration movement striking the hours and half-hours on a gong, with the backplate stamped with the trademark of the maker Vincenti et Cie, along with the serial number 2186, the gilt-brass dial embossed with c-scroll and shell decoration to the centre and with inset shaped enamel plaques for the blue Roman hour numerals, with blued steel hands, the waisted tortoiseshell boulle case with brass inlaid decoration and cast cherub-head and floral ormolu mounts, surmounted by a matching finial, height 32cm.*Biography Vincenti set up his factory producing blancs roulants in Montbeliard in 1823 but went bankrupt a year later, whereupon the clock manufacturer Roux took on the management. They were awarded a Medaille d'Argent (silver medal) for their movements at the Paris exhibition of 1855, Vincenti having died in 1834.
