Die Firma verfertige Räder, Triebe, Rohwerke (Roulant Blancs) sowie komplette Uhrwerke. Mougin lieferte diese Räder- und Rohwerke an andere Uhrmacher und Firmen, welche die Werke vollendeten und dann in Gehäuse montierten. Zu seinen Abnehmern gehörten auch bekannte Firmen wie A. Roux & Cie (vorher Uhrenfabrik Vincenti & Cie) und JAPY FRERES & CIE. Bei der Weltausstellung 1889 in Paris war die Firma einer der Aussteller.

The dial has extensive noticeable restoration (filling and colouring) as well as chipping/losses to the enamel. The case generally is in good original condition retaining original finishes albeit with overall discolouration/tarnishing and light to moderate wear. The rear cover glass has been replaced and is now secured via tangs soldered to the bezel. There are also filed slots in the bezel and corresponding holes in the circumference of the case suggesting clips for securing the rear cover were once present, Clock has a pendulum but no winding key.Clock is 56cm wide, 22cm deep, 48cm high. Condition Report Disclaimer

AN IMPRESSIVE FRENCH CLOISONNE PANEL MOUNTED GREEN ONYX FLOOR-STANDING PEDESTAL CLOCK THE MOVEMENT STAMPED FOR VINCENTI ET CIE, PARIS, LATE 19th CENTURYThe rectangular eight-day striking movement with anchor escapement incorporating Brocot type regulation to pendulum suspension, the backplate stamped with VINCENTI & CIE, MEDAILLE D'ARGENT, 1855 beneath numbers 7 7 to centre and serial number 4557 to upper left hand corner, the 6.75 inch circular onyx dial centred with a fine cloisonne enamel rosette decorated in blues, pink, gilt and red in the Hispano Moresque style within a ring of applied gilt Roman numeral hour chapters, with pieced blued steel hands set within generous repeating foliate cartouche cast surround fitted with a hinged cast brass bevel-glazed bezel, the pedestal-form case with cavetto edged top and gilt foliate scroll cast mount to frieze over conforming polychrome cloisonne spandrel panels around the dial flanked by leaf cast pendent mounts to the applied side sections, the tapered upright with cloisonne apron mount and further Hispano-Moresque style shaped applied skirt at the junction with the conforming enamelled cavetto moulded foot, standing on a stepped plinth with gilt brass squab feet.121cm (47.5ins) high, 38cm (15ins) wide, 24cm (9.5ins) deep. This impressive clock was clearly designed to furnish/accessorise a suitably opulent interior with the purpose of acting as a pedestal to take a sculpture of the owner's choice.Condition Report: The movement is complete (except for the bell and pendulum) and original and will just about run and strike however it is generally in dirty/neglected condition hence requires a gentle clean/service. The dial has some slight mellowing/discolouration to the gilding otherwise is in fine original condition with no apparent damage to the enamel work. All the enamelled mounts to the case are intact with a few light 'frits' to the enamel only (no apparent loses) the metalwork however is very dirty dull/tarnished. The onyx has a crack/break across the lower left-hand corner of the skirt, noticeable chipping to all the lower corners above the gilt feet and a chip to the plinth to the left hand corner of the base top moulding. The left-hand side onyx panel at the base is also slightly out of alignment. The top section has some chipping to the rear corners of the frieze and the platform has visible fissures to some of the veining (a natural feature of the stone). Case otherwise is somewhat dirty/neglected with other damage limited to very small edge chips and discoloration to the cast gilt mounts.Clock does not have a pendulum, key or bell. Condition Report Disclaimer

MEDAILLE D'ARGENT, PARIS 1855 beneath indistinct retailers stamp JUVENAUX and number 62, the circular white enamel Roman numeral dial with Arabic five minutes to outer track and fine scroll pierced and engraved gilt brass hands set behind hinged cast convex glazed bezel, the case with lovebird, quiver and flaming torch cast surmount to the acanthus cast and chased laurel bordered superstructure over central rectangular section housing the movement fitted with brass grille frets to the sides and rectangular glazed door to the rear, flanked by seated putti holding aloft grapes and flowers, the base with repeating foliate band and scroll-fronted panel beneath the dial flanked by acanthus cast ogee platforms beneath the cherubs, over breakfronted white marble plinth applied with gilt tied laurel moulding to upper edge and on toupe feet. 35cm (13.5ins) high, 39.5cm (15.5ins) wide, 12.5cm (5ins) deep.Condition Report: Movement is in working condition with no visible evidence of alteration or significant replacements; the mechanism is a little dirty hence a gentle clean/service is advised and the bell is missing its securing nut. The dial has some light concentric scratching in the vicinity of the IX and X numerals, two small chips to the left hand winding hole and one to the right and a small hairline crack next to the 30 minute mark below VI. The case is generally in good original condition with the mounts retaining original gilding throughout with light wear to high spots and a few spots of green tarnishing to the superstructure. The marble base has a slight shallow edge bruise to the centre towards the left hand return of the breakfront otherwise faults very much limited to a few minor edge chips (can be felt rather than seen).Clock has a pendulum and a winding key. Condition Report Disclaimer

Lot 1866

A French white marble and gilt metal mantel clock, late 19th century, the white enamel Arabic dial with gilt pierced hands, fronting an 8 day bell strike movement with platform escapement, by Vincenti Cie, no. 887, the balloon case mounted with cupid and attendant cherubs, on a shaped base with floral gilt metal mount and four gadrooned feet, 12¾in. (32.3cm.) high, faults to dial. * Condition: Crack and flaked enamel to dial between 1 and 2 o'clock. Retailer's name to dial worn. A few tiny frits to marble on corners and edges of base. Good repair to cupid's bow with some retouching to gold paint.

A FRENCH LOUIS XVI STYLE ORMOLU, PATINATED BRONZE AND WHITE MARBLE SMALL MANTEL CLOCKRetailed by Elkington and Company Limited, London, circa 1900The circular eight-day bell striking movement with Brocot type regulation to pendulum suspension, and the backplate stamped with VINCENTI, MEDAILLE D'ARGENT, 1855 over numbers 2741, 5 1 1, the circular white enamel dial with vertically planted Arabic numerals bordered with concentric floral swags around retailer signature ELKINGTON & Co. LTD to centre, with fine scroll-pierced gilt hands set behind hinged convex glazed bezel, the case with surmount cast as two lovebirds over concave sided upstand to the break-arch section housing the movement flanked by figures of Cupid opposing a martial putto, on plinth base incorporating lappet leaf cast upper mouldings and drapery swag apron flanked by paw feet.27cm (10.5ins) high, 21.5cm (8.5ins) wide, 10.5cm (4ins) deep. Provenance: Private collection, North London; purchased at Woolley and Wallis sale of Furniture, Works of Art & Clocks 8th January 2020 (lot 237) for £600 hammer.Condition Report: The movement appears to be in relatively clean working condition however there is no pendulum present with the clock. The dial has some light edge chipping around the right hand winding hole otherwise appears to be in good original condition. The case has a corner chip to the marble superstructure at the upper left hand corner just beneath the lovebird surmount. Otherwise case is in sound original condition with light wear to gilding and other small blemishes commensurate with age and use.Clock has a winding key but no pendulum. Condition Report Disclaimer

A FRENCH LOUIS PHILIPPE ORMOLU FIGURAL MANTEL CLOCKRetailed by Aubert Klaftenberger, Geneva, mid 19th centuryThe circular eight-day striking movement with anchor escapement regulated by disc bob pendulum and stamped with serial number 1473 over AUBERT KLAFTENBERGER and Vincenti & Cie, MEDAILLE D'ARGENT roundel, with circular white enamel Roman numeral dial inscribed AUBERT KLAFTENBERGER, A GENEVE to centre and with steel trefoil hands within leaf cast circular surround, the case modelled with a female reclining within a naturalistic setting tending to a swan over shaped panels applied with delicate scrolls flanking the dial and elaborate shaped skirt base cast with ivy trails and incorporating pierced scroll feet.36.5cm (14.5ins) high, 41cm (16.25ins) wide, 16.5cm (6.5ins) deep. The highly regarded retailer of clocks, watches silverware and objet d'art, Charles Ignaz Klaftenberger, was born in 1802 and entered into partnership with D.F. Aubert in 1835. The firm were appointed watchmakers to Queen Victoria and Prince Albert and traded from retail premises at 157 Regent Street, London. They exhibited at the 1851 Great Exhibition and the partnership appears to have lasted until 1863 after which it would appear that Klaftenberger worked alone until 1881.
