A EUROPEAN SILVER SNUFF BOXSilver and two colour parcel gilt rectangular hinge lidded box, the top decorated with figures, a begging dog and cottages, the side panels and underside decorated with floral sprays, measuring 7.8cm x 3.8cm x 3.9cm, weight 107 grams, with a green velvet lined leather caseCondition reportA little rubbed to the underside resulting in some loss of definition to the floral spray, otherwise minor uniform rubbing, corners all good, interior may have been gilded in the past, now unsympathetically cleaned within, rather dirty particularly around the edges, there are marks within the lid of the box, no significant dents. Leather case green velvet within looks to be original with slight signs of wear as would be expected, leather hinge is a little perished and is split through at one end, leather corners are all a bit rubbed through, the leather surface is almost entirely lacking its polish, the loop to connect the pivoting hook is missing to the top of the box
