A rare Russian enamel snuffbox, of rectangular form, the hinged cover with a cartouche of painted flowers, bordered with varicolour stylized foliate and geometric motifs together with scrolls, floriate and foliate decoration to the sides. The model is executed with gold gilding. Snuffbox with miniature portrait, Paris 1798-1809, gold. Very fine 18 kt. gold snuff box with an oval hand-painted miniature portrait of a lady with a musical instrument on the hinged lid. This portrait contains an enamelled cartouche with leaf motifs which is also applied to the outer edge. In between chiselled with lozanges in checkerboard pattern. The side is divided into panels with the same patterns. The intermediate pieces, upper edge and lower edge are also enamelled. The underside contains the same decoration as the lid (excluding the portrait). France, Paris, 1798-1809, hallmarks: Departmental hallmark 1798-1809 (chicken), chicken head 3 (unofficial hallmark used by Parisian goldsmiths on their gold products of the 2nd title, often luxury pieces), unknown maker's mark (LFB with zither or fan), eagle's head re-hallmark (fineness hallmark for products of at least 750 gold) - excellent condition. 141.1 grams, 18 kt. Louis XVI snuff box, Paris 1784, gold. Louis XVI oval snuff box in three shades of gold. Decorated with guilloche patterns with concentric stripes, dots and flower shapes on the hinged lid. The outer edge on top of the lid and on the side of the lid is decorated with laurel wreath elements on an Amati background. The side is decorated with panels on which guilloche patterns are applied and four intermediate pieces with laurel leaves. The underside is decorated in the same way as the lid. France, Paris, 1784, hallmarks: bird's head (fineness indication Paris, period 1783-1786), P84 ''Maison Commune'' year hallmark, Charge hallmark, maker's mark JCB crowned with flower and fleur de lis. 53.9 grams, 22 kt.
