An Early 19th-century Russian niello snuff box, of rectangular form, hinged cover decorated with the Bronze Horseman, Peter the Great on a rock inscribed with Cyrillic Peter I Petro Primo Catharina II, against Moscow town background and a floral frame, the base centred with an oval cartouche surrounded with military trophies, gilt interior, struck with assayer mark Nikolay Dubrovin, Moscow 1824, 7.5 x 4.7 x 1.5 cm, 78.2 grams. Hinge moves freely without issue, cover closes without springing.Old impact to the bottom left-hand corner of the base, light is showing through three of the four seams (corners) of the base.Some shallow dents to the corners.Softening to the engraving and some aspects of the top and bottom are almost smooth in places
