Some light surface scratches commensurate with age and use. Silver gilt interior - kings head, makers mark and lion passant well struck on lid, with anchor, makers mark and date letter to base. Smaller box - Birmingham 1824, - appears to be in good condition. Engraved with monogram. Small dent to lid which is only apparent on the inside. A Continental Silver and Enamel Rectangular Snuff Box stamped 800 Standard the lid enamelled with a recumbent dog 3ins x 2.125ins  x.5ins, gross weight 2.4ozsThe enamel surface has lost it's full shine and is very pitted and scratched. The silver is surface is dirty and has scattered tarnish patches as is evident in the images. Tope and base edges are very rubbed. Splits to top front corners - top front edge on right pushed out slightly. Scattered light surface scratches. Stamped 800 standard to interior along with another mark which is indistinct.

Grimwade (London Goldsmiths 1697-1837) in a footnote to p299 notes "His mark identified on fine gold snuff boxes. It is highly probable that the maker's mark IA incuse with or without a pellet is his. He is, moreover, the only goldworker with these intials listed by Grimwade.
