"A George III mahogany bracket clock, with repeat, the twin fusee movement with a verge escapement and striking on a bell, to an engraved backplate, the arched 'Battersea' enamel dial inscribed 'Marmke Storr, LONDON,' with subsidiary Strike/Silent dial, to painted decoration, the bell top case with a brass carrying handle, pierced fret sides, the base base moulding on pads, 20in (50.8cm) h, 11.5in (29.2cm) w,7.5in (19cm) d. Baillie states; Marmaduke Storr, Lombard Street, London, was active from 1724 - 1775. See Barder, Richard C.R. The Georgian Bracket Clock 1714 - 1830, for a similar example by James Upjohn. This rare enamel dial is thought to be the work of a former Battersea enamel worker, Anthony Tregent. Who on leaving the enamel factory set up his own business in Denmark Street. There are a handful of both longcase and bracket clocks with these type of dials. Anthony's brother, James was a well known London clockmaker."
