Two similar William IV linen samplers both by Emma West, Aged 11 years or dated August 21st 1835 and worked with a house, dogs, birds, trees and flowers in trailing borders, one with a central verse, 40 x 35cm and 44 x 43cm, both framed In generally good condition with some light time staining of the background and the colours rather subdued. On the sampler with the central verse a 1cm moth hole just beneath the central panel and with three or four smaller moth holes lower right, another smaller hole upper right. The other sampler apparently free from moth holes but with the odd pulled thread here and there, no smudging of the colours
An unusual early Victorian linen sampler by Mary anne Davies 1838, worked in coloured wools with a named view of Erdigg, two birds, flowers in pots and trees in green border, 22 x 32cm, mahogany frame Some even light brown time staining of the support and the odd pulled stitch principally to the borders but not unattractive and a rare subject (see catalogue footnote)
A rare and attractive Bessarabian silk miniature kelim, Ukraine, second half 19th century, 11in. x 15in. 28cm. x 38cm. Although the design is 'vertical', this delightful piece is woven on the 'horizontal' or 'short' axis. It may have been woven as a sampler, but shows a complete field design with border.
A George III sampler, worked in coloured silks on linen ground with religious verse and spot motifs including two books initialled 'B' and 'T' for Bible and Testament, signed with embroidered inscription: 'Charlotte Blair her Sampler Aged 8 years December the 11 1787', all within angular floral border, 13 3/4 in. x 11 3/4 in. 35cm. x 30cm. Insect damage in places, faded. Framed and glazed.
An English Sampler, worked in coloured silks on linen with rows of spot motifs, single alphabet and number rows, a short verse (idiosyncratically spelled), signed and dated with woven inscription: 'Frances Howe Aged 12/February 23/1827', all within angular floral border, 12in. x in. 9in. 31.5cm. x 23cm. And another English sampler, with two registers of large spot motifs, a short verse and signed in inscription: 'Ann Simes's work aged 11', all within an angular floral border. About 1820, 16in. x 11 1/2 in. 41cm. x 29cm. Both with fairly extensive insect damage, the first with slight damp staining on row of blue numbers. Both with original wood frames, glazed.

O send thy Spirit down to write Thy law upon my heart: Nor let my tongue indulge deceit Nor act the liar's part. From vanity turn off mine eyes: Let no corrupt design Nor covetous desires arise Within this soul of mine". within a vine and carnation border flanked by flowering plants, surmounted with a flower filled planter, the lower frieze depicting Adam and Eve holding fruit from the tree of knowledge and with peacocks, parrots, boats and comucopia, all within a ribbon border, Mary Laycock's work aged 9, 1822, bright and in excellent condition, 16in x 13in, contemporary gilt gesso reeded frame, the corners with floral patera.

Two early 19th century linen samplers by Sarah and Priscilla Hornby, each worked in crosstitch in coloured wools, with alphabet, the first dated March 12th 1835, the second dated March 13th 1835, the first 29cm x 24cm, the second 31cm x 24.5cm. The first sampler by Sarah Hornby is framed in a plain black frame, indicating that she died before the sampler was framed and displayed.
