George 111 small alphabet sampler, embroidered in five coloured silks on coarse linen ground, the field divided into six horizontal rows containing the alphabet in upper case, numbers from 1 to 13, two crowns and a diamond spot motifs, with woven signature and date: 'GRACE NAYLOR/1798' all within a pink single line border, 5in. x 8 1/4 in 13cm. x 20.5cm. And a miniature alphabet pin-cushion sampler, worked in gold coloured silk on linen ground divided into four horizontal rows with the alphabet and numbers 1 to 8 within a 'chain-link border, English about 1800, 1 1/2 in. x 2in. 3.25cm. x 5cm. Used as the front of a pin-cushion with contemporary silk damask back. Insect loss to ground of front in several places. (2)
