A Laterza maiolica blue and white footed bowl, 18th century, the centre painted with a bird in a stylised landscape, the border with foliage between borders of dash ornament, on a short circular foot, 24.3 cm wide, together with a North Italian porcelain chinoiserie soup-plate, late 18th century, painted in blue, the centre with flowers, the well with diaper panels divided by panels of flowers, the border with four groupings of flowers and foliage within a brown line rim, 22.3 cm. diameter (2)Footnotes: For a related Laterza armorial dish with lion in a landscape within a similar border, see Guido Donatone, La Maiolica di Laterza, Bari, 1980, pl. 40 (b).Condition Report: The Laterza footed bowl broken into two sections and restuck, chipping to the rim. The soup-plate with a D-shaped section of the rim restuck and stapled in an old repair, with a branching crack around the well and through the border opposite which has been temporarily repaired with adhesive tape - this needs attention from a professional restorer.
