Carr Made Me 1901' verso This large Arts & Craft copper charger, with a central boss with coiled snake and green enamel design, is early on in the partnership of renowned British silversmiths Omar Ramsden and Alwyn Carr. The pair met at Sheffield School of Art and won their first joint commission in 1898, setting up a studio in Chelsea not long afterwards. This charger dates from 1901, very early on in their career, and is unusual both for its large size and the fact that it is in copper. Dimensions: 24 in. (diam.)

AN INTERESTING COMMEMORATIVE PEWTER CHARGER: PROBABLY COMMEMORATING THE MARRIAGE OF CHARLES II TO CATHERINE OF BRAGANZA, DATED 1662. The well engraved with Stuart royal arms for Charles II, encircled by the garter, with supporters, surmounted by a helmet, crowned, and having above it a lion and the initials ‘CR, beneath is the royal motto 'Dieu et Mon Droit' and the inscription 'Vivat Rex Carolus Secundus Beati Pacifici 1662’ (Long Live King Charles II of Blessed Peace), rim engraved with meandering oak leaves and acorns, the rear with punched/wriggled initials 'I.C., P.P., F' and touchmark to rear, probably ‘RA’, (fl.1662-?), (PS1414), 41.5cm diameter Provenance; Formerly Reverend O.E. Brooks Collection. A large 19th century Japanese Imari charger, decorated with figures, fence and foliate patterns heightened with gilding. diameter 48 cm (see illustration).The charger has a crack to the bottom left-hand side running from the edge into the dish which is approximately 15 cm in length. The underside is covered with a fabric pad which is glued into place for wall hanging. The gilding to the front is a little worn in places but nothing to untoward.
