ANTONIN ARTAUD (FRENCH 1896-1948) EMPLOI DU TEMPS (ENTRE NOV. 1946 ET FEVRIER 1947) Pencil 62 x 47cm (24¼ x 18½ in.) Provenance: Luciane Abiet, Paris Sotheby's, Paris, 24 May 2018, lot 70 Artaud was a key figure in the European avant-garde best known for his writings and work in the theatre and on screen. The present sheet dates from the period when Luciane Abiet served as secretary to Artaud, where the latter mentions his appointments: 'Picasso / Montmartre Picasso / Montmartre Picasso / Saturday noon. Sunday Henri Thomas 7 a.m. Montmartre Tuesday 10 a.m. / Picasso Monday Mme Abiet/ Diane/Arthur/ Adamov Tuesday Picasso Wednesday Africa.'  Picasso, Adamov, and Thomas, whose names appear in this list, had joined the Association des amis de l'œuvre d'Antonin Artaud, created in the spring of 1946 for the maintenance and accommodation of Artaud in a private clinic in Ivry. At this time, Bordas wanted to publish an edition illustrated by Picasso of texts by Artaud. In August 1946, Artaud tried in vain to see Picasso, who was in Antibes. When he collects Luciane Abiet's testimony on Artaud, G. Mordillat mentions this sheet: 'Lucienne Abiet keeps a schedule of Artaud with the appointments cancelled by Picasso' (The Veiled Mirror: And other writings on the image, Calmann-Levy, 2014). λ JÖRG IMMENDORFF (GERMAN 1945-2007) KUNST UND POLITIK Oil on canvas Signed and dated 97 (lower right), titled (lower left) 70 x 80cm (27½ x 31¼ in.)Provenance: Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac, Acquired from the above, 30 March 1997Born in on 14 June 1945, Jorg Immendorff grew up in a divided post-war Germany struggling to find a new identity and narrative in the fast moving technological age and politically charged society of the time.  In 1963 he entered the Kunstakademie in Dűsseldorf, and in 1964 was admitted to the class of Joseph Beuys, the most influential and important artist working in Germany at that time. The founder of the Neo-Dada movement Fluxus, Beuys's central premise that art should play a wider role in society inspired Immendorff to create paintings, sculptures and performance art that directly engaged in the current political discourse.Reflecting on this period Immendorff said that "It was always clear that we wanted to get out there. The forceful character, the assertiveness in connection with a pedagogical idea, that was always clear. The aim was always to go out and reach other people. Including the truism: `I am not going to let you leave me alone..."(J. Immendorff, 1989, M. Werner, Art Basel Portal) In the 1970s Minimalism and Conceptualism became the mainstream artistic movements of the period. In opposition to this dominance the Junge Wilde movement was formed. Expressive, vigorous and bold in palette, the movement included Immendorff as well as Helmut Middendorf, A.R. Penck, Martin Kippenberger and Markus Lupertz. Irreverent in nature the Junge Wilde group created works that questioned and satirised the political and hierarchical structures in Germany during this period. Between 1977 to 1982 Immendorff executed one of his most celebrated series of paintings titled Café Deutschland in which the opposing ideologies of East and West Germany were explored. Themes of division and alienation both physically through the infamous Wall and emotionally in the individual's psyche were rendered in layers of richly painted symbolism set in metaphysical Cafés, nightclubs and theatres, reminiscent of Berlin's pre-war counterculture. Painted in 1997 the present works continues to explore these central themes of political division. The stage and its actors, imbued with symbolism, play to an empty theatre. Despite the Berlin Wall coming down in November 1989 and the subsequent reunification of the countryImmendorff's work still explored the changing political landscape and economic hardships that were experienced in Germany in the late 20th Century. Central to his beliefs was still the main tenet that art must have an active role to play in the discourse of contemporary culture and politics and not merely be art for art's sake.    Condition Report: In good original condition.Condition Report Disclaimer

An original seventies poster from the Paul McCartney and Wings 1973 UK tour. It features the Fatman seaside illustration and has been signed in blue ink by Paul McCartney, Linda McCartney (who has signed first name only), Henry McCullough, Denny Laine and Denny Seiwell. The signatures were obtained after a performance at the Odeon Theatre, Edinburgh on the 23rd May 1973.Provenance: comes with a letter from the consignor which reads: ‘This is to confirm the circumstances in which I obtained the Wings signed poster and programme. It was a particularly special day in my late teens. There was no formal autograph signing so after the concert I did my very best “roadie” impersonation and found my way to the green room of Odeon. I got as far as the door of the green room, which was open, and saw that Paul, Linda, the two Denny’s and Henry McCullough were relaxing on a long settee after the concert. They were literally two yards away from me. I didn’t get into the room, but befriended one of the Brinsley Swartz band and he went to-and-fro getting my poster and program signed. I was there talking and getting the nods from Paul and a smile from Linda and Denny Laine. It was quite surreal to be that close to a former Beatle in such a relaxed setting. After about 30 minutes I bid farewell and rushed off to try and catch the last train back to Fife.’The poster measures 101cm x 71.5cm (39.5 inches x 28.5 inches). There is a large tear to the top edge which measures 10cm x 7cm along with some smaller tears. It has been folded leaving horizontal and vertical crease lines. The condition of the poster is very good minus.

An original programme for the AC/DC 1979 European tour that has been autographed on the front cover by Bon Scott and Angus Young in blue ballpoint pen. Bon has added the group name under his signature. The autographs were obtained outside the Apollo Theatre, Manchester on the 29th October 1979.Provenance: accompanied by a letter from the original recipient that reads:‘My childhood friend Simon Robinson and I set off from our then hometown of Grimsby on his faithful Honda 250cc Super Dream Motorbike on the 29th Oct 1979 . Keen and eager to see our heroes AC/DC at Manchester Apollo Theatre. It was cold as we went across England’s highest motorway M62. The support band unbelievably was Def Leppard who were superb, AC/DC with Bon and Angus blew everyone’s mind and literally blew the roof off the place. After several deserved encores Simon and I found ourselves outside in the rain, sleet and snow programs and T Shirts clutched in our hands. I persuaded Simon to wait by the tour bus and see the band coming out, when they did there was only half a dozen of us hardcore fans left and the band asked us on the bus where it was a lot warmer. We chatted and secured Bon and Angus autographs and stored them under our bike leathers by our chests all the way back to Grimsby (Did I say it was cold), little did we know that barely 2 months later our then hero Bon Scott would be dead, tragic.’The programme measures 21cm x 29.75cm (8.2 inches x 11.7 inches). The condition is very good plus.

Top of the range ‘Privilege’ modelRare colourPatrick Le Quement's 2+3 Coupé GT MPV concept was revealed at the Paris Motor Show in 1998. The reaction from the motoring press was unanimously positive prompting Renault to take the very bold step of launching their 'Avantime' (meaning ahead-of-time) into production largely unchanged. This radical flagship not only had handsome good looks but also an abundance of luxuries, safety features and advanced engineering. Highlights included unique double-hinged 'kinematic' pillarless doors allowing easy access to the front and rear seats, the world’s largest opening glass sunroof at the time featuring strengthened heat-reflecting tinted glass, theatre seating, galvanised steel chassis with aluminium upper structure, cavernous 530 litre boot, Xenon headlights and a 'grand air' mode which retracts the 1m² glass sunroof at the same time as the pillarless side windows, all at the press of one switch. 'Sub Zero' status on Top Gear's 'Cool Wall' earned the Avantime some notoriety, especially with the presenters claiming that Renaults Avantime was cooler even than the Aston Martin Vanquish and "the coolest car money can buy" yet just 450 cars ultimately sold in the UK.This well-equipped Avantime is number 228 of the limited number sold in the UK. This stylish coupé was registered in September 2002 and presents in the rare colour combination for the model of red metallic coachwork with a contrasting beige leather interior. This Renault is offered to auction with a V5C registration document, a fresh MoT test certificate and various bills and receipts. The Avantime combines bold styling with exceptional comfort and a host of quirky and engaging features. When you overlay the GT flare and performance with such limited production numbers, it is of little surprise that these hand finished statement cars are now gathering quite a collector following.
