Seine posthum erstmals 1472 erschienenen "Romae Triumphantis Libri Decem" stellen eine methodisch innovative kulturhistorische Studie ersten Ranges dar. Die beiden ersten Bücher beschreiben die religiösen, die Bücher III-V die administrativen und juristischen Verhältnisse. Die Bücher VI und VII handeln "de le cose militari" (mit einer kurzen Zusammenfassung der römischen Geschichte), die Bücher VIII und IX "de costumi, & ordini de la vita privata", also von Ehe und Erziehung, Landwirtschaft, Transportwesen, Straßen und Gebäuden, wobei Biondo sich vor allem "auf die technischen Arbeiten des Bauens" (Schudt) bezieht. - Innengelenke angeplatzt. Die Sammlung enthält unter anderem Briefe von Annibale Caro, Lorenzo de‘ Medici, Sperone Speroni, Bernardo Tasso und Tizian sowie jeweils einen Brief von Michelangelo (an Pietro Aretino) und Raffael (an Baldassare Castiglione). Tatsächlich war das Werk "in Ital(ien) sehr geschätzt" (Ebert). - Titel gestempelt ("M. Ant. Bonciar") und mit etwas größerem hinterlegtem Randausriss. Etwas fleckig, vereinzelte Unterstreichungen.

Santi di Tito, 1536 Sansepolcro/ Arezzo – 1603 Florenz, zug.PORTRAIT EINER ADELIGEN MIT KINDÖl auf Holz.153,8 x 103,5 cm.In einem Innenraum, der durch eine ockerfarbene Wand, den Fußboden und einen Vorhang als solcher definiert ist und sich rechts zu einer hügeligen italienischen Flusslandschaft durch eine Doppelbalustrade abgrenzt, sitzt auf einem Armlehnstuhl eine junge, reich gekleidete Frau an ihrer Hand ein Kind haltend, das den Wohlstand der mutmaßlichen Mutter in seiner Kleidung reflektiert. Mit großer technischer Virtuosität in der Wiedergabe von Details stellt das Tableau zwei Personen in roten Amarantdamastgewändern dar, die mit einem bestickten Goldgürtel, Einlagen aus Perlen und Edelsteinen, Halsketten und Puffärmeln geschmückt sind. Die Frisur der Adeligen offenbart ihr schönes ovales Gesicht und ihre zarten Züge. Auf ihrem Haar ist ein kostbares Diadem angebracht, das den leichten und greifbaren Schleier zusammenhält. Das Kind hält seine Mutter mit der linken Hand, während es in der rechten Hand einen kleinen Vogel hält. Durch das mit Vorhängen versehene Fenster auf der rechten Seite der Leinwand sieht man eine unbestimmte Landschaft, die von blauen und kalten Farben bestimmt wird.Santi di Tito war eine der einflussreichsten Persönlichkeiten der florentinischen (und toskanischen) Malerei des späten 16. Jahrhunderts. In Florenz wurde er in der Werkstatt von Sebastiano da Montecarlo ausgebildet und stand in direktem Kontakt mit Agnolo Bronzino (1503-1572) und Baccio Bandinelli (1493-1560). Er trat 1554 in die San Luca-Gilde ein, aber über sein frühes Schaffen ist nur wenig bekannt, auch weil sich sein malerischer Charakter erst nach einer Reise nach Rom von 1558 bis 1564 herausbildete, wo er sich dem Klassizismus der Nachfolger Raffaels annäherte. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt begann er, in den wichtigsten dekorativen Unternehmen der Epoche zu arbeiten und nahm Kontakt mit Federico Zuccari (1561-1565) auf, eine grundlegende Begegnung, die zur Ausarbeitung antimanieristischer Reformen führte, die er nach seiner Rückkehr nach Florenz einbrachte. Diese Reformen wurden von dem Künstler mit einer unglaublichen Entschlossenheit vorgeschlagen und hinterließen einen starken Eindruck im lokalen künstlerischen Umfeld der damaligen Zeit. Der Künstler wurde vom Hof der Medici aufgenommen und nahm aktiv am Leben der Akademie von San Luca teil, ein Engagement, das durch seine Arbeit am Beerdigungsapparat für Michelangelo und seine Fresken für den Bau des Salomonischen Tempels in der Kapelle der Gesellschaft Santissima Annunziata veranschaulicht werden kann.Die ersten Werke dieser Phase zeigen typisch römische Formkonventionen, auch wenn der Maler seinen Stil bald vereinfachte und zur kompositorischen Einfachheit und Nüchternheit der florentinischen Malerei des frühen 16. Jahrhunderts zurückkehrte, verbunden mit einer intensiven und frommen Religiosität, die den von der Gegenreformation diktierten Prinzipien folgte. Diese Form des „Purismus“ behielt er während seiner gesamten Karriere und in seinen späteren Werken bei und wurde so zu einem Einflussfaktor der florentinischen Malerei bis zur Ankunft von Pietro da Cortona (1596-1669) in Florenz. Er arbeitete auch im Atelier von Francesco I, wo seine Gemälde stark von dessen formalen Entscheidungen beeinflusst wurden.Santi di Tito lernte in Florenz und zog dann nach Rom, wo er von 1560 bis 1564 blieb, bei den Zuccari-Brüdern Taddeo (1529-1566) und Federico (1539-1609) arbeitete, ein Fresko für den Palazzo Salviati, Rom, ausführte und im Vatikan zu den Fresken im Casino di Pio IV und im Belvedere, Wien, beitrug. Raffaello Borghini notierte 1584, dass in Florenz zahlreiche Portraits, auch von Malern und Bildhauern, aus der Hand von Santi di Tito vorhanden sind. Nach Baldinucci waren die Portraits von Santi di Tito auch am Ende des 17. Jahrhunderts noch sehr kostspielig, aufgrund ihrer lebensnahen Darstellung. Der Kopf Mariens dem Haupt Christi zugewandt, ihre linke Hand – mit fein gearbeiteten Fingern – hält die Hüfte des Sohnes. Reiche Bildung der Gewandfalten, die am linken Mantelarm einen großen Bausch bilden. Der rechte Arm Jesu ist senkrecht nach unten geführt, ein Motiv, das seit der berühmten Pietà des Michelangelo zur Norm des Bildtypus geworden ist, wie insgesamt auch diese kleine Pietà auf dieses Vorbild zurückgreift. An den Ufern Kähne, weiter hinten in hellem Licht anliegende Gondeln. Auf der Brücke wenige Figuren, dabei eine Mutter mit Kind. Die Lichtstimmung zeigt - wie in allen ihren Bildern - eine hervorragende Malqualität.Die Malerin studierte zunächst in Prag bei Karel Javúrek, war dann aber die erste Frau, die in Venedig 1867 von der Akademie bei Michelangelo Grigoletti (1801-1870) aufgenommen wurde. Sie widmete sich überwiegend dem Genre italienischer Stadtansichten, nicht nur von Venedig, sondern auch von Florenz, Bologna und Rom. Daneben entstanden auch Altarbilder, die sie allerdings mit „Antonio“ signierte, da sie sich als malende Frau diskriminiert sah.
