Guards. Good re-brown to barrels, traces of case colour to the locks, and traces of blueing to the mounts. Serial no. 9737 pertains to 1827 listed in the Mantons: Gunmakers by Neal & Back and these guns are listed in The Manton Supplement by Neal & Back. Captain Hope served in the Coldstream Guards from 1824 to 1844 when he retired as Lieutenant Colonel and he was the second son of General Sir John Hope, 4th Earl of Hopetoun. Lidded compartments with bone lifters and bone keyhole escutcheon.

Collection of Militaria, relating to Douglas Heelas, including some of his belongings, comprising a small silver box presented to the Adjutant, from the Sergeants Mess L D Transit Camp September 1944, a small hairbrush, a fob chain, a silver hip flask, and a book written by the family of Douglas, 'Letters in a Suitcase' with correspondence from Douglas to home. There is also a copy of a Missing in Action notification, and a silver napkin ring presented to his sister from the St Andrew's Guild. This is a lovely collection of wartime memorabilia.
