An important ducal gold and enamel collar necklace, England, 1860s, commissioned by John Winston Spencer-Churchill, 7th Duke of Marlborough, designed in the Renaissance Revival style, the elaborate scrolling gold collar set with eight lockets, seven of which are decorated with the initials of their children in enamel with forget-me-nots in a floral wreath surround, the other with a Ducal coronet set with rubies and diamonds, the reverse with oval glazed locket compartments engraved with the full name of each child and their date of birth, length 41cm, lockets 2.2 x 2.9cmThis extraordinary necklace is a superb example of the historicism of the Victorian age, and the influence that medieval and Renaissance art and architecture had on both decorative art in the middle of the 19th century, and the imaginations of some of its most prominent patrons.

Matthias Darly (publisher; c. 1720-1780) - The Three Graces of Cox-Heath, [London, 1779], etching, with contemporaneous hand-colouring, 23 x 30.5cm A rare print satirising the Georgiana Cavendish, Duchess of Devonshire (1757-1806), Elizabeth FitzRoy, Duchess of Grafton (1745-1822), and Jane Gordon, Duchess of Gordon (1748-1812), all of whom followed their ducal husbands and their respective militias - in the Devonshires' case Derbyshire - to Coxheath, near Maidstone, Kent, then the British Army's camp training raw troops into soldiers, to fight alongside the British Army, during the American Revolutionary War. The aristocratic ladies even had their dressmakers tailor fashionable 'military uniforms' for themselves. A rare satirical print. Unexamined out of frame, but apparently trimmed with loss of lettering. The sheet somewhat browned, yet displaying well.

A Frederick Rhead for Burleigh Ware Amstel pattern octagonal dish. Diameter 20cm together with a Harry Bennett for Crown Ducal charger, a Mabel Leigh for Shorter & Sons Khimara pattern dish and a pair of Frederick Rhead Arcadian Ware Arabian vases. (4)Repairs and restoration to the neck and rim of the pair of vases, the Khimara dish has a dull sound and dullness to the colour possibly restored. Images of affected areas online.
An interesting pair of 19th Century naval tompions, the oak plug 5¼" diameter, the oak covers 9" diameter, mounted with cast pewter crests embossed with Nelson's motto in a Garter surmounted by a naval crown, within the Garter the augmentation added to Nelson's arms after the battle of the Nile, surmounted by a ducal coronet, the whole surrounded by crossed cannon, naval ensign, anchor and palm fronds, over the battle honours Nile, Copenhagen and Trafalgar. GC Two ships named HMS Nelson during the 19th century: 1st rate ship of 1814 and a cruiser of 1876. £600-650
1st Huntingdonshire Mounted Rifles/Light Horse (Duke of Manchester’s) Troopers Helmet, the black leather skull with plated mounts and plated front trim, correct pattern white over red horse hair plume, the frontal badge features a ducal coronet, unit initials and scroll 1ST or Duke of Manchester’s, quilted sweatband, and original wearers name ‘Thomas Smith’. Three large plates with crazing and staining, one with chip.
