A large George V silver cigar box. Elkington & Co.,Birmingham, 1929. Of rectangular form, the box raised on four stepped, circular feet and decorated with an applied band of oak leaves and acorns to sides, the hinged lid opening to wood-lined interior and designed with a raised, rectangular cartouche to centre, applied with monogram to front, 17.5 x 27.5 x 13cm Condition Report: Gross weight approx. 64.3ozt. Probably lead lined. The hallmarks are clear though the upper portion of the marker’s mark is ever so slightly rubbed. The decoration is in good condition. A few picks and blemishes to the lid. Some minor bruising and deeper nicks to one corner visible under magnification. Hinge in good working order. Light surface scratches throughout. Some minor surface scratching and nicking noted and some minor bruising to corners. Decoration generally in good condition with only a little wear in places.
