A CHINESE EXPORT LACQUERED GAMES TABLE19th/20th century, profusely decorated in gilt and highlighted in red, the top with a central panel depicting a city with soldiers, court officials and attendants, the panel lifting to reveal a backgammon board inset, the reverse of the panel with a chess board, the frieze similarly adorned with figural scenes within leafy foliate borders, a single drawer to the front, on a baluster turned stem to a tripod base with heavily carved dragons head feet, 81cm high x 90cm wide x 70cm deep
A Staunton pattern championship size weighted boxwood and ebony chess set, possibly by the British Chess Company – early 20th century, the king 9.7cm high, the pawns 4.7cm high, complete, one rook and one knight to each side with impressed red stained crown mark (black king with later cross to top, black Queen possibly with later crown section to top, white bishop with missing finial from top of mitre, a few chips and splits to bases).
