A very rare Caughley pot pourri basket and cover, circa 1790-95Oval with tapering sides crisply moulded with a fine basketweave pattern, applied with an overhead handle, the cover pierced with seventeen round holes, printed in bright blue with various floral sprays and scattered sprigs including versions of 'Three Flowers' and 'Sliced Apple', cellular borders around the rims, 20.5cm long (2)Footnotes:This is a later Caughley production made using a hybrid hard paste body and was clearly beset with manufacturing problems. There are a couple of nibbles to the underside rim of the cover on the teapot and a further smaller nibble to the tip of the spout.Both canister covers have small chips. A rare Caughley porcelain 'Rose' sauceboat, circa 1776-80, of fluted low oval form, painted in underglaze blue with the central open flower with a single branch and foliage to either side, the interior with a cell diaper upper border, C with serif mark, 7cm high, 14cm long (crack around upper terminus of handle)Provenance: Private collection, purchased prior to 1975.Condition:There is a crack around the upper terminus of the handle, but it has not been broken off. Otherwise condition is good, there are a couple of minute edge knocks around the foot rim and a few minute glaze nibbles around the tip of the spout. No other damages or repairs.

Purchased at Halls on 28th April, 2010, lot 81.Condition:There is a firing crack/open fissure about the lower terminal of the handle and a slight further firing fissure below the spout. The interior rim also has a small indent, which has been glazed and painted over. There are no damages or restorations, all of the defects are manufacturing ones.

An important Caughley centrepiece and stand from the Marquess of Donegal service, circa 1793, the centre decorated with a crowned D within a yellow, blue, gilt and pink banded rim, the broad foliate border reserved with panels of classical ladies painted en grisaille, one panel painted with the family crest, the dish marked CHAMBERLAIN, 38cm wide Provenance: Geoffrey Godden Literature: Geoffrey Godden, Chamberlain Worcester Porcelain, Barrie & Jenkins, 1982, ill. P.49, pl. 23 for a dessert dish, p. 50, pl. 24 for other pieces from the service including the present lot The invoice for this service is dated the 18 September 1793. It is a harlequin set as borders are of different designs, the centre dishes cost £8 8 shillings. The dish itself has slight rubbing to the gilding and a small restored chip to the rim. The stand has a foot missing and there is a crack to the side. Small amount of discolouration to a part of the base.
