Goldener Phallusanhänger mit Pendilien, römisch, 1. - 2. Jhdt. n. Chr. Geflügelter goldener Phallusanhänger mit fein ausgearbeiteten, stilisierten anatomischen Details. Hinten eine Öse zum Aufhängen. Danach der leicht durchgebogene Schaft mit deutlich markiertem Schwellkörper auf der Unterseite. Direkt hinter der Öse seitlich des Schafts die beiden Hoden, auf der Oberseite zwischen den Hoden die Schambehaarung durch wellige Gravur dargestellt. An den Seiten des Schafts vor der Eichel je ein Flügel mit eingeritztem Gefieder, bei dem Deckfedern und Schwingen deutlich unterschieden sind. Die Eichel mit geöffneter Röhre deutlich vom Schaft abgesetzt und spitz zulaufend. An den Spitzen der Flügel und unter der Eichel Ösen zur Befestigung eines Kettchens von jeweils 2,8 cm Länge (Pendilien), an deren Ende zwischen zwei Scheibchen eine blaue Glasperle befestigt ist. Länge des Amuletts ohne die Pendilien 3,8 cm. Gewicht 22,66 g. The winged, gold phallus pendant with finely crafted, stylised anatomical details. A suspension loop at the back. Below which, the slightly curved shaft with clearly delineated corpus cavernosum on the underside. The two testicles at the side of the shaft, directly behind the loop. The pubic hair is represented by wavy engraving on the top between the testicles. On both sides of the shaft in front of the glans, a wing with incised plumage, where the covering feathers and wings are clearly distinguished. The tapering glans with open tube clearly separated from the shaft. At the tips of the wings and below the glans are eyelets for attaching chains of 2.8 cm in length each (pendilia), at the end of which a blue glass bead is attached between two discs. Length of the amulet without the pendilia 3.8 cm. Weight 22.66 g. Exceptionally well-preserved phallus pendant in gold in a quality rarely encountered. Ca. AD 200 - 400. A Roman bronze applique shaped like a phallus, with three hooks on the back for attaching it to a statue or piece of furniture. The object has a beautiful green patina. In ancient Rome, the phallus amulet was used as a talisman to bring good luck, fertility, and protection from evil spirits. The phallus symbol was commonly found in various forms of art, jewellery, and architecture. Ca. 1070 - 332 BC. A well-preserved, mould-formed faience amulet of Bes. He is the bandy-legged dwarf deity who was a protector of women, children, and those within a home. Depicted with raised brows, fierce eyes, full cheeks, and a wispy beard, all beneath a feathered headdress. It is covered with a stunning blue glaze. Ca. 664 - 30 BC. A beautiful pale green faience amulet depicting a recumbent Khnum with long and curved horns. Khnum was the Egyptian ram god associated with water, the river Nile, fertility, and creation. One of the earliest gods worshiped in ancient Egypt, Khnum was believed to have created the bodies of human children from clay, imbuing them with Ka (spirit) and blessing them with health before placing them in their mother's womb. The god is depicted as a recumbent ram on a thin pedestal, with a detailed muzzle and long, curved horns. For similar see: The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Accession Number 74.51.4501. Late Period, Ca. 30 BC - AD 200. A Romano-Egyptian carnelian amulet depicting seated Bastet with her tail curved around her body. The front two legs, have incised lines on the paws to denote toes and to delineate the flat base. A perforation through the neck allows it to be strung as an amulet. This was a popular practice to protect the wearer, and this elegant cat represents good health. Ellison, a deceased former member of the Egyptian Exploration Fund, bought from the 1940s, Cairo and London.

An Egyptian blue faience 'Son of Horus' Amulet, later modified into a brooch, cracked, H 7 cm, Provenance, by family tradition, this belonged to Evelyn Peachy (archaeologist) who was with Howard Carter.

THE NEVERENDING STORY (1984) - Collection of Pre-production and Post-production Items - A collection of pre-production and post-production items from the production of Wolfgang Petersen's fantasy film The Never Ending Story. Included in this lot are a collection of photos, a script, various storyboards, an amulet concept piece, and pieces from the luck dragon Falkor. The Falkor pieces are made of foam rubber, and comprise two heads and two halves of the dragon's body. They are unpainted and have no fur attached. The amulet is made of resin, and is formed into the shape of two snakes devouring one another. It comes in its original rubber mould, from which it can be removed. The photo collection comprises three A3 sheets of black card, onto which behind-the-scenes photos are adhered, with annotations in white ink, as well as loose behind-the-scenes photos. The storyboards are printed, and come with brief descriptions of each scene. The script is titled "The Never Ending Story", credited to Wolfgang Petersen, and dated "15.2.1983". The Falkor pieces show some misshapping and dryness, and along with the amulet mould exhibit some dirt from age. The amulet has minor wear, as does the script, but otherwise all the pieces remain in good condition.
