A Silesian 120-Bore Wheel-Lock Tschinke Mid-17th Century With octagonal sighted barrel rifled with six spiral grooves and engraved with symmetrical foliage (worn) at the swamped muzzle and breech, the latter struck with unidentified barrelsmith's mark on the top flat 'ML', a pellet above and below in an oval, plain tang, characteristic foliate engraved lock with brass plate over the wheel-bracket decorated en suite, brass plates over the main and cock-springs against steel plates originally blued and each pierced and engraved with a hare amid foliage, the former involving a monster-head, the latter with a mustachioed profile head, cock pierced and engraved with a demi-figure and with a further hare, the flash-guard engraved with a squirrel, release button with domed brass head, fruitwood full stock (minor repairs) profusely inlaid with horn scrolls and pellets inhabited by incised hounds pursuing hares and a fox (one replaced), a sportsman shooting a stag, a hare and a bird with a serpent in its beak along the underside, a stag on the side-flat, and on the butt with a boar hunting scene, the cheek-piece with an eagle, enriched overall with mother-of-pearl ball-flowers, hares, squirrels and foliage, a small panel behind the barrel tang engraved with stocker's monogram 'A:S:', inlaid sliding patch-box cover (replacement bone mounts), horn butt-plate with iron button, trigger-guard indented for the fingers, foliate engraved horn ramrod-pipes (rear one replaced) and fore-end cap, and later wooden ramrod 92 cm. barrel For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com For further information about this lot please visit the lot listing

Buyers' Premium and Charges

Buyer's Premium Rates
28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.
A 3rd party bidding platform fee of 4% of the Hammer Price for Buyers using the following bidding platforms will be added to the invoices of successful Buyers for auctions starting on or after 6th July 2024 – Invaluable; Live Auctioneers; The Saleroom; Lot-tissimo.
