A German 12-Bore Flintlock Sporting Rifle From The Schloss Dyck Armoury Unsigned, Early 18th Century With bright swamped octagonal sighted barrel with rounded triangular bore cut with spiral grooves, reblued back-sight, plain tang, bright faceted lock and cock each with slender moulded border, the latter secured by a bolt with internal screw, the head chiselled with foliage, chiselled steel (refaced during the rifle's working life), moulded figured full stock lightly carved with foliage forward of the trigger-guard finial, behind the tang and to the rear of cheek-piece, the latter set with a steel panel chiselled in low relief with a portrait bust of a bewigged gentlemen in armour within a border of foliage, perhaps Altgraf Franz Ernst (1659-1727), and stamped with two addorsed Salm salmon above '22', sliding patch-box cover, iron mounts comprising butt-plate (some old surface rust) with foliate finial, faceted spur trigger-guard with finials en suite, double set trigger (one incomplete), horn fore-end cap and ramrod-pipes (one replaced), and later horn-tipped ramrod 84.7 cm. barrel Footnotes: Provenance The Armoury of Their Serene Highnesses the Princes zu Salm-Reifferschiedt-Dyck (Part I), 15 April 1992, lot 97 Literature Max von Ehrenthal, Die Waffensammlung des Fürsten Salm-Reifferscheidt zu Schloss Dyck, 1906 For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com For further information about this lot please visit the lot listing

Buyers' Premium and Charges

28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.
