Rock Crystal Carving of a Polar Bear by Luis Alberto Quispe Aparicio The realistically carved seated polar bear rendered from a quartz crystal, which still retains its termination, secured with gold vermeil metal work reminiscent of the crackled ice upon which the animal lives. Raised on a Brazilian grey banded agate base having natural rind edges which suggest a ripple effect of water. Measuring 16 1/2 x 13 x 10 in Footnotes: Luis Alberto Quispe Aparicio Following a second-generation family tradition in the fabrication of objects d'art, Luis' studio specializes in the carving of ruby. The second hardest stone after diamond, few artists have managed to successfully work this mineral since it requires a very advanced technique for carving and polishing. His works are displayed in museums in the United States and Europe and are enjoyed by private collectors around the world. Lot to be sold without reserve.
