Hawk's Eye Carving of a Rearing Horse on Tiger's Eye Base by Luis Alberto Quispe Aparicio Carved from a single, large specimen of blue tiger's eye, known in the mineral trade as 'hawk's eye' quartz from South Africa, this is a depicting of a rearing horse on a grassy turf. The colorations and banding distinguish the musculature and motion of the galloping horse. Raised on a tiger's eye base, rimmed and accented with gold vemeil. Measuring 11 x 3 1/2 x 9 in Footnotes: Luis Alberto Quispe Aparicio Following a second-generation family tradition in the fabrication of objects d'art, Luis' studio specializes in the carving of ruby. The second hardest stone after diamond, few artists have managed to successfully work this mineral since it requires a very advanced technique for carving and polishing.
