Fine Hawk's Eye Quartz Carving Depicting a Galloping Horse by Luis Alberto Quispe Aparicio Carved from a single large specimen of blue tiger's eye, known in the mineral trade as 'hawk's eye' quartz from South Africa, the rich coloration and banding distinguishing the musculature and motion of the galloping horse with three legs in the air above the grassy turf. Raised on an octagonal-form base carved of a single large specimen of black obsidian. Measuring 14 x 6 x 11 in Footnotes: Luis Alberto Quispe Aparicio Following a second-generation family tradition in the fabrication of objets d'art, Luis' studio specializes in the carving of ruby. The second hardest stone after diamond, few artists have managed to successfully work this mineral since it requires a very advanced technique for carving and polishing.
