Set of five original vintage World War Two poster issued in Great Briatin. 1. Rescue, featuring an image of a rescue team transporting a person down the ladder from a bombed house, caption below reads - Rescue Section's job is to save life. The rescue man's training gives him the building construction knowledge he needs to extricate trapped people safely, and teaches him the first aid that he gives them before sending them on for further medical attention. each rescue party of eight travels in a specially equipped vehicle. - with an inset of a rescue team member and a speech bubble - It's a job that calls for skill as well as guts. Very good condition, creasing, pinholes; 2. The AFS The Auxiliary Fire Service, featuring an image of firefighters manhandling an escape ladder, with the caption below - Fire is a dangerous enemy but one that experience has shown can be defeated by training, team work and discipline - all of which you will get in the Auxiliary Fire Service. During training you learn to use the latest fire fighting equipment and may get the chance of fighting real fires with regular firemen, and a smaller inset of a firefighter with a speech bubble that reads - The training is exciting and we'll be ready if... Established in January 1938, the Auxiliary Fire Service was a volunteer fire service that supported the regular fire brigades during World War II. Good condition, creasing, pinholes, paper skimming on top right corner; 3. The AFS The Auxiliary Fire Service, featuring an image of firewomen reporting to HQ by portable radio, the caption reads - The auxiliary firewomen do the same jobs as regular firewomen. They are trained as radio and telephone operators, in the mobilisation of fire appliances, in fire control rooms, and may become members of crews of mobile control, wireless or canteen vans; with a smaller inset of a firewoman and as speech bubble that reads - The equipment we have is right up to date. Established in January 1938, the Auxiliary Fire Service was a volunteer fire service that supported the regular fire brigades during World War II, and was the first fire service to include women. Very good condition, creasing, pinholes; 4. Come and join us now and become a good neighbour - we need you - featuring illustrations of smiling people in the brodie helmets and berets with AFS Auxiliary Fire Service, Civil Defence and Rescue Section team insignia, set over a street view in orange. Prepared for the Home Office by the Central Office of Information. Printed for H.M. Stationery Office by F.Mildner & Sons, London. Very good condition, creasing, pinholes; 5. Welfare Section - featuring an image of Civil Defence Corps team emergency feeding during the East Coast Floods, the caption below reads - Looking after people - hungry people, frightened people, people with problems, and people without homes - that is the Welfare Section's job. Its members have many duties - looking after the homeless, billeting, emergency feeding and clothing. They run Rest Centres, Emergency Meals Centres and Information Centres; a smaller inset of a Civil Defence worker with a speech bubble that reads - One of the vital jobs in Civil Defence. The Civil Defence Corps (CDC), a British civilian volunteer organization, was established in 1949 to respond to major emergencies, primarily nuclear attacks. At its peak in 1956, it had 330,000 members. While it was disbanded in Great Britain in 1968, the Isle of Man and Ireland still maintain their own CDCs. Very good condition, creasing, pinholes.
