Finch, who was inspired by Shoji Hamada, a renowned Japanese potter, bought the pottery in 1946, and was succeeded by his sons, but carried on working into his 90's, dying in 2012. The third piece is a water jug in oatmeal and dark brown glaze, with wavy design. The inside glazed with a light blue/oatmeal. With pulled handle and finger-drawn spout. An impressed mark to the unglazed base is a little indistinct, but the form and pattern is Winchcombe. (H 20.5cm) Part of the Bowles Collection. (3)
