Great War Memorial Plaque to a 1917 Casualty in the Manchester Regiment, bronze memorial plaque, “THOMAS F. WESTHEAD”. Plaque in cardboard folder of issue accompanied by Buckingham Palace issue slip. Thomas Francis Westhead, originally from Wigan, served with the 1/5th Battalion Manchester Regiment in Gallipoli from 6th May 1915. In March 1917 the Battalion transferred to France and he was reported missing presumed killed on 9th September 1917, sadly his body was never located, and he is remembered on the Tyne Cot Memorial, Belgium.

Smaller losses to the side of the fruit, including glaze chips to the brown branches, a larger chip to one leaf and small chip to edge of one brown fruit. Hairline crack visible to the underside of the base.

DELPECH FOR ART UNION OF LONDON, AN ENGLISH PARIAN BUST OF APOLLO THIRD QUARTER 19TH CENTURY Typically modelled on a socle base inscribed ART UNION OF LONDON 1861 PUBLISHED FEBRUARY 1 1861 and verso the bust C. DELPECH, impressed BBW & M for Bates, Brown-Westhead & Moore 36cm high Provenance: Private Collection, Fawley Manor, Berkshire Cf. A similar Art Union model of this bust sold in these rooms 14th February 2024, £320 hammer The V&A hold an example (Accession no: CIRC.178-1964) which they note is a reduction of the marble 'Apollo Belvedere' by C. Delpech, held in the British Museum. These Parian busts were produced by Copeland and commissioned by the Art Union of London, an organisation established in 1836 for the encouragement of British artists and the improvement of public taste in matters of the arts. Condition Report: Would benefit from a clean to remove general dirt and frass. No serious damage, chips or losses noted. No restoration or replacement parts noted. A Bates, Brown-Westhead & Moore Parian Figure, "Thalia", Circa 1860, holding a Greek comedy mask, impressed "BT, SC.", and title of work, 14.5ins, a Copeland parian figure, "Lurline", circa 1870, and a Royal Dux figure of a water-carrier, raised pad mark and impressed 2245, early 20th century, 18.25ins highThe Bates, Brown-Westhead & Moore Parian figure should correctly say 'Beattie, sc.' rather than 'B T'. The figure's natural right hand has lost two fingers. There is a lightly stained hairline crack running through the underside of the base and vertically down from the edge of the base, close to the tambourine. Copeland figure - 'Lurline' damage and loss to figure's natural right foot. Damage and loss to lyre. Royal Dux figure - some light scattered wear to painted detail and gilding but otherwise appears to be in good condition with no obvious damage/loss/restoration
