A SET OF FOUR 'EARLHAM' CHINOISERIE PATTERN PANELS HAND-PAINTED ONTO GENTLEMAN'S PINK INDIA TEA PAPER PAINTED AND FRAMED BY DE GOURNAY In contemporary hand water gilded 12ct white gold leaf frames the frames 200cm high, 92.5cm wide, the painted paper panels 194.5cm high, 87cm wide de Gournay's Earlham design is based upon a set of well-preserved 18th century wallpaper panels held in the V&A Museum Collection. Condition Report: The panels are recently painted and framed. They have been removed from their frames and reinstated into their frames, some of the screwheads are sheared off and a few screws are missing. The contemporary frames show some signs of being handled and hung, with some abrasions, minor scratches and indentations to the frames, with some scratches showing a white under layer and others with black marks - please see the additional condition report photographs. Please note that this Gentleman's pink Earlham pattern has been painted on Indian Tea Paper, the nature of which shows the lines of the cut paper joins and is distressed with scuffing, this is all part of the desired 'aged' appearance. Please see all the additional condition report photographs through the link on the condition report email as a visual reference of condition - they are a vital part of this report. Condition Report Disclaimer

Lot 112

A Rockingham style gilt and floral Victorian part tea set, with 12 tea cups, 10 wide cups, 12 saucers, two large plates, lidded sugar basin, bowl and milk jug (see illustration).Half of the saucers have small chips or discolouration, the rest are in good order but do show some signs of discolouration and do not ring true.  The milk jug is slightly yellowed to the interior and does not ring.  The handle to the sugar basin has been broken and glued back into place, the lid is slightly yellowed, the main body is in good order but does have a small chip to the internal rim.  The bowl is free from any cracks however there is some yellowing to one side.  The wider cups – four have chips and cracks, the others are in good order but do show some signs of slight discolouration.  Six of the teacups are in good order, free from any chips or cracks but do show some slight discolouration, the other six have chips, cracks etc.  One of the plates rings true and is generally a good colour, the other is dull and shows signs of discolouration.

Lot 74

A Spode tea set with green body and gilt floral decoration, comprising teapot, sugar bowl basin, 10 tea cups, 11 saucers, 12 plates and three dishes.Two of the large plates are in good order, one has a dent and crack running from one edge towards the rim of the base and then further across.  The furthest reaches are +/- 15 cm.  The milk and sugar bowl are both in very good condition with no issues.  The teapot lid has been riveted at some point and later been restored.  The spout of the teapot has also been restored.  All of the tea cups are in good order with the exception of one which has a chip to the rim.  The saucers and side plates are all in good order with signs of any chips, cracks or restoration.

A decorative five piece silver tea set. Adie Brothers,Birmingham, 1952. The set comprising: a teapot, coffee pot, hot water pot, sugar bowl and milk jug, all of rounded, fluted form, with engraved shell and scale decoration to shoulders, the pots with wooden handles and rounded finials to hinged covers, teapot 16cm high, coffee pot 20.2cm high (inc. handles), total weight approx. 95.8ozt (5) Condition Report: The tea set is in good condition. Some minor scratching and nicking commensurate with age. A few deeper nicks in places (eg. to rim of sugar cover and some high points on fluted bodies). Some solder noted around coffee pot spout (may date from time of manufacture). A ding to the foot of the coffee pot and the hot water pot (more significant to the latter pot). Hinges to covers in good condition. The teapot with presentation inscription to underside dedicated to Sir Roy Welensky. A few dark marks/some discolouration to wooden finials and handles in places.
