A GEORGE III MAHOGANY WRITING OR LIBRARY TABLE CIRCA 1800 With a gilt tooled leather top and a secretaire drawer opposing a false drawer front, veneered and boxwood strung to all sides 79cm high, 90cm wide, 62.5cm deep Condition Report: Overall there are some scratches, marks, chips, cracks and abrasions consistent with age and use.The leather top is a more distinct faded red colour than it appears in the photograph. The gilt tooling is deeply embossed with a border of eagles.There are some losses and restorations: some sections of crossbanding are replaced/repaired; some veneers to the block feet replaced/ later replacements; lacking two blocks to the underside of the secretaire drawer; the secretaire drawer with a later replaced leather inset; there is no key. There is some evidence of old worm. This secretaire table is of neat size and classic line, the interior mahogany lined drawers have pristine original gilt metal handles. A 19th century mahogany and satinwood strung Secretaire chest, with one fall-front drawer revealing a fitted interior and three long drawers below. Width 96cm, height 101cm, depth 51cm.Good but used condition. This would originally have had a bookcase top which has been removed and the joints filled. Escutcheon is damaged to secretaire drawer, and one interior drawer is missing it's pull. Drawer pulls are not original, and the feet have probably been replaced as well.
