A HERIZ CARPET With a central medallion on a brick red ground within similar borders approximately 362cm x 288cm Condition Report: Carpet with significant wear overall as illustrated. Wear reveals underlying weft and warp in areas throughout. Various old stitched repairs, including a old repaired tear through one side border - see images. A patch repair to central field approximately 20 x 10cm. Longest edges have some sections re-bound in varying colours of thread but are untidy. They have various losses, wear, fraying and loose threads. Some undulation to the edges of the carpet - it is not completely square in shape. The fringed ends have moved into the pile and a guard stripe has been lost at both ends. Both ends with wear, fraying, loose threads and losses. A GEORGE III ORMOLU AND WHITE MARBLE CLOCK CASE BY MATTHEW BOULTON AND JOHN FOTHERGILL, CIRCA 1771 Formerly with clock or timepiece movement to interior and on figural mounted base, the ovoid body inscribed "Αϊ Αϊ / Ταύ Κυθέρϵιαν /Απώλϵτο /Καλοṡ Ἀδωνιs" above pedestal mounted with a medallion, later plinth 28cm high, base 10.5cm wide Literature: N. The lid is removeable and although of roughly the same colour and form- almost certainly a replacement being not quite for the "leaf clasp" form of known examples.
