Dubois (Pierre) Collection Archeologique du Prince Pierre Soltykoff, Horlogerie ... l'Horlogerie au Moyen Age et Pendant la Renaissance, signed by the author, 20 engraved plates, ink inscription to half-title, wrappers lightly soiled, some foxing, original wrappers bound in, contemporary half morocco, gilt spine, 4to, Paris, Librairie Archeologique de Victor Didron, 1858. *** Ink inscription reads "A Monsieur Ferdinand ?Denis, hommage de son bien affectionne, Pierre Dubois." First and only edition of Dubois' catalogue of the early timepieces in the vast and disparate Soltykoff collection.

A FRENCH PORTICO CLOCK with eight day drum chiming movement with black enamel dial inscribed Dubois, A Rives, within a gilt metal scrolling foliate surround, in ebonised and gilt metal mounted pedimented case with brass, tortoiseshell and mother of pearl inlay, wrythen turned columns, stepped oblong base with reel edging and bracket feet, 19th century, 19 1/2" high.
