A Victorian satin walnut triple wardrobe circa 1880, the spindle gallery cornice centred by three carved plaques of a squirrel, swan and hare, over a bevelled mirror door enclosing four sliding shelves and three short drawers with flush brass handles flanked by flowerhead carved fielded panel doors enclosing a hanging space and drawer to each side between grooved uprights and panelled sides and raised on squat ring turned feet 78" wide, 22" deep, 94" high History: The carved panels in the cornice and the overall style of this wardrobe is reminiscent of the designs of Bruce Talbert. In 1872 Bruce Talbert designed the Pet sideboard for Gillows to exhibit at the London International Exhibition and the animal panels here follow those designs closely. As well as the Pet sideboard, Talbert also entered other prize winning pieces for International Fairs including the Pericles Sideboard shown in Paris in 1867 by Hollands and purchased by the Empress of France. The Juno cabinet shown by Jackson & Graham in Paris in 1878 and purchased by the Viceroy of India and of course the Pet Sideboard in 1872, purchased by The South Kensington Museum.
