A Donyatt pottery puzzle jug, Somerset, dated 1835sgraffito decorated with stylised tulips, with the inscription, 'Drink of me and merry be, I M 1835', the centre with the initials, 'J & A 1835'.height 19cmCondition:There are patches of loss to the glaze right round the body and there is a small chip/loss to one side of the spout. Minor cracks to the glaze.
Probably by the Donyatt Pottery, the small pot with a handle to the rim and painted with flowers and leaves, inscribed 'S M 1761, Mind in thy youth the God of truth (12.5cms high) Also with a similar item, inscribed 'J B, This is true I love none but you, John Backs? (cracked, 13.5cms high). (2). ** 1761 pot, paint loss/nibbles to the rim and handle in places, a little paint loss near the base. The other is cracked right down the body from a chip to the rim, chip to rim, some paint loss.

A Donyatt pottery puzzle jug, early 19th century, of typical bellied form with pierced neck and hollow rim with single spout, the yellow and green glazed body, sgraffito decorated with naïve birds and stylised foliate motifs, incised text "J..B 1820" in incised frame with "May 26 1820" beneath, 20cm high CONDITION REPORT:The piece shows losses to the glaze at various points across the surface. There is a loss to the foot rim approximately 4cm long below the handle. There is a hairline crack approximately 7mm long to the base of one side of the spout.

A Donyatt pottery puzzle jug: of shouldered form with raised pierced neck, hollow handle and rim with three raised spouts, the yellow and copper flecked body incised with leafy fronds and Stop! Look! Listen!, late 19th century, 16 cm high.*Notes Stop, Look and Listen signs were a safety feature for railway crossings. The Chard and Taunton railway was built in 1863 and passed through Donyatt.

(See illustration) Condition Report: A few small firing cracks, patches of glaze missing especially to the spout and handle, chip to the under side.
