A good early 19th century mahogany decanter box - the rectangular box with boxwood strung edges, parquetry banding and brass swing handles to the sides, with key, the fitted interior with the four original square glass decanters with facet cut rim and shoulder and faceted globe stoppers, 18.75cm high, plus a set of eleven (of the original twelve) tot glasses with basal comb cutting, 4.4cm high. Cotswolds interest: a George V engraved glass decanter - the baluster shaped neck with panel cut decoration, the body with engraved inscription 'Rt. C. H. Barnard V. D. Bartlow Leckhampton Chairman of the Friends who Saved "The Hill" 1924-1927', the opposing side with a wheel engraved pictorial, inscribed 'Leckhampton Devils Chimney', signed indistinctly, 34.75cm high. * The engraving on this decanter relates to a legal case which ran from 1924-27, when local residents of Coney Gee and Bartlow, near Leckhampton, led by Mr. RCH Barnard of the house 'Bartlow', found their lives and properties seriously threatened by noise, dangerous pollution and structural damage due to lime quarrying by Leckhampton Quarries Company Limited on Leckhampton Hill around the Devil's Chimney. The case was won and the quarry company entered receivership and the quarries closed, with the Corporation of Cheltenham successfully purchasing the estate and 'The Hill' for the public to enjoy in perpetuity.

There is a large crack situated at the base which has been glued back together. There is crazing to the glaze in some areas, with a couple of areas of loss to the glaze. There are some small chips to the edges of the foliage and a rough texture as well. There is no plug to the lamp and the top of the lamp where the bulb is placed, might need to be replaced. The height of the base is 10cm approximately, the entire lamp is 45.5cm (up to the bulb holder)

Harry Powell - James Powell & Sons, Whitefriars - A 'Roman' style flint glass decanter, circa 1894, of ogee mallet form with oval cut panel between lens cut borders, high drawn facet neck and hollow blown ogee stopper, height 29cm, together with two matching wine glasses. (3) NB - The pattern was derived from a Roman cut glass bowl excavated at Leuna, Saxony.
