dating: 19th Century provenance: France, Fine, in-the-round, bronze depiction of King Louis Philippe in full uniform with sword, orders, sash and epaulettes; the forefinger of his right hand points to some scrolls placed on a column-shaped support. Rectangular pedestal tapering upwards, the rear surface decorated with a rhomboid chessboard featuring four dots inside each 'square'. An early 19th Century mahogany Gonzales Alvez) games table, the chessboard satinwood and ebony inlaid top opening to reveal a green baize-lined interior on a shallow dished surface, swivelling to open fully, over a mahogany lined frieze drawer with beaded edge on turned and slender reeded tapering legs to brass Copes Patent caps and castors, 66.5 cm wide x 44.5 cm deep x 75 cm high (Provenance: Quiet Street Antiques Bath £3,250 - A games table with similar top arrangement illustrated in "Gillows" by SUSAN STUART Page 302 Volume I, legs identical to a chair illustrated on Page 368 Vol II) CONDITION REPORTS There are several large marks to the top including some water damage and a further area of damage to the top right hand corner which has been attempted to be restored. There are also various other marks, etc and a split on the right hand side lower corner going through the chequerboard. Chequerboard is discoloured and faded in places. There are splits variously throughout, including to the drawer liners and on the open side of the table. One of the back legs has got several large cracks running down it. Otherwise general wear and tear conducive with age and use to include some knocks, bumps, etc. See images for further details.
