‘Glebe House’ a large and impressive painted wooden dolls house with contents, English, mid nineteenth century, the three storey dolls house with painted red brick exterior, quoining, with two glazed bay windows to ground floor and a further four windows to façade, four attic windows, two opening, all with moulded surrounds and sills, double painted black pitch roof with two large chimneys and carry handles to sides, painted mustard front doorway, the front opens in two wings to six rooms, hall way and landings, all with internal hinged doors and a further two rooms in attic. Top right Bedroom: includes metal framed bed, Marklin fire-place, tin-plate wash stand, wooden writing desk, wardrobe, chairs, bookcase and all-bisque doll. Top left Bedroom: wooden bed, good early chest of draws, brass fireplace, smaller draws, shaving mirror, settee, chair and all-bisque doll with broken foot. Sitting room: good Waltershausen writing desk with marble top, green silk upholstered settee, decorative cast iron fireplace, brass centre table, two chairs, brass candle box, tinplate cake stand with cakes, hanging bird cage and two dolls, (a.f). Drawing room: good early wooden chest of draws with decoration, large metal candelabra, chaise lounge, tinplate coal scuttle, writing desk and three chairs. Kitchen: large wooden dresser and another smaller in cream, cast iron larder box, selection of ceramic, glass, tin kitchen ware and utensils, china doll and gentle man with moulded moustache. Dining room: with decorative fireplace, with gold leather surround and mantle, centre table with four chairs, two settees and side table, tinplate pram, three china dolls and two all-bisque dolls. Hallway and landings: with built in staircase, all rooms with a good selection of pictures and ornaments, with letter of provenance giving some information, the house was purchased in Winchester, England, and named ‘Glebe House’. (condition: some minor restoration to exterior, papers nice but not original), 57”(145cm) tall, 44 1/2 ” (113cm) wide, 22 3/4” (58cm) deep.
