PAUL BROADHURST. 'Secret Shrines: In Search of the Old Wells of Cornwall.' Signed first edition, 412/500, original clooth, coloure illustrations, Paul Broadhurst, Launceston, 1988, g. Dr Rob Senior arrived in West Cornwall from his native Yorkshire in the early 1960’s where he took up his vocation as a young GP and served the local community for 40 years. At the age of 12, Rob bought a book on Cacti. It was his first book, and established the twin passions of his life, books and plants. His library is a fabulous, eclectic collection of books, largely on plants and horticulture, but also nature and many other subjects, all brought together by a man with a curious and inquisitive mind. WW2 Joe Kayll DSO DFC signed Stalag Luft III cover. Joined 607 [Auxiliary AF] Squadron in 1934 In Nov., 1939 he was FC when that unit went to France Took command of 615 Squadron in March 1940 (France) Their records being destroyed by a bomb shortly before their withdrawal, late in May, back to the UK Within the week, he was awarded a DFC & a DSO By the end of June, 615 was back at it with Kayll seeing action until December when he was posted to HQ, Fighter command as S/L Tactics. That only lasted until June 1941 when he was posted to Hornchurch as W/C Flying On 25 July he was flying No.2 to Harry Broadhurst when their section of four were bounced. Only Broady made it back. Kayle Spent the rest of the war as a POW but earned himself an OBE for his escapades. Good Condition. All autographs are genuine hand signed and come with a Certificate of Authenticity. A Great War 1917 ‘Western Front’ M.M. awarded to Private A. Broadhurst, 125 Company, Machine Gun Corps, late Lancashire Fusiliers, who served in Egypt, Gallipoli and France, was wounded in September 1917, and was taken Prisoner of War at Achiet le Petit in March 1918 Military Medal, G.V.R. (39592 Pte. A. Broadhurst. 125 Coy. M.G.C.) edge bruising and possible correction to regimental number, better than good fine £200-£240 --- M.M. London Gazette 12 December 1917. Arthur Broadhurst was a native of Manchester who enlisted into the 8th Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers and served in Egypt from 5 November 1914, and later at Gallipoli. He transferred to 125 Company, Machine Gun Corps, on 10 August 1916, was wounded on 26 September 1917, and taken prisoner of war at Achiet le Petit on 26 March 1918. Sold with research including partial copied service papers.
