THE MARIO F. CARLEO COLLECTION - KEY-WINDING POCKET WATCH, QUARTER-REPEATER, AUTOMATON AND LIBERTINE SCENE, SIGNED BREGUET, 1810 Case: four-body in gold, engine turned caseback, reeded band, gilt metal cuvette signed “Breguet a Paris N.45117”. Dial: silvered plate, Roman numerals, signed “Breguet”. On sides two jacquemarts, one female and one sauvage, are striking on bells. Within an aperture there is a third automaton representing a browsing goat behind which, through a lever placed on band, can be displayed an erotic scene. Movement: fusee winding, signed "Breguet a Paris", verge escapement, pierced and engraved cock, upper cap jewel, plate and bridge decorated with engravings on edges. Quarter and hour repeater on gong and automatons, activated by pressing pendant. Accessories: – Diameter Ø: 54 mm Note: running at the time of cataloguing, but a servicing is suggested.

A German singing bird automaton, early 20th century - the bird perched on a leafy wire branch, in a domed, gilt brass cage, raised on three turned cylindrical feet, fixed key to base, in working order.* In good working order and good condition overall . Probably a few losses to the leaves and a few losses to the feathers on the bird's head. Some spotting and tarnish marks to the lacquered brass base to the cage.

Clothing is original, music box plays two tunes, her face and hands are bisque and her eyes are glass. Clothing is clean and without damage, the music box plays well, but a little subdued in tone. A Singing Bird Automaton, 20th century, the yellow-plumed bird perched within a domed wirework cage over a curcular plinth embosed with a band of flowers29cm highMechanism appears to be working, key turns smoothly and bird moves and sings. Top of cage is missing a hoop, bird slightly dishevelled and two sections of decorative foliage have come loose from perch. Cage has general minor wear, marks, scratches etc. Remains of a label to base but is unreadable.

The head moves from side to side and up and down, while the eyes and lips also move. 50cm high, 42cm wide, 23 cm deep. Condition Report: Overall good condition, in working order. Mild to moderate wear to the harp, minor tears to the outfit cloth and chair all consistent with age.

The themes of music, revelry and abundance are continued in the porcelain panels of the lower section, which depict two urns and a putto piper. The automaton is independent of the clock movement. The bird turns from side to side and flutters its wings and tail (beak movement inactive) as it sings. A reproduction brass birdcage automaton clock, 13.5cm high

19th century French tableau mecanique automaton, Chinese figure lying on his back kicking colourful balls into the air. He has a bisque head with painted features and a topknot, wearing a pale blue and white satin costume heightened with foil. He has metal hands and a papier-mache body articulated at the elbows and knees. The figure is surrounded by velvet draped theatrical stage heightened with foil and off stage mirrors. The back of the case opens to reveal a movement with a gear train driving pulleys, presented in a gilt wood frame and case, complete with key engraved nr 16 and a simple stop and start button to the side of the case. When wound this does work, the head turns, the arms move from the elbow, the knees move and kick the balls into into whilst a melody plays. Video: https://youtube.com/shorts/4YblAsXRe2I?si=JaYDz3r_uNIpNYn9Condition ReportThis automaton may have been subject to restoration including possibly the curtains, buttons and foil but this may also be that these elements are just in good condition.

A late 19th century American clock by Seth Thomas Plymouth Hollow Connecticut. Together with a brass Sovergin balance, a white metal propelling pencil, another, two propelling toothpicks and a mermaid automaton.The clock has no pendulum and the saucer bell is detached.The mermaid is detached from both arms, and one pencil isn't working

Mid century brown Bakelite Vitascope Industries Ltd electric automaton clock with rocking three masted sailing ship. 33cm high approx. (B.P. 21% + VAT)  Failed PAT test.  No obvious damage, but minor marks/scratches.  Arms on the clock are a bit rusty.
