A George I walnut kneehole desk circa 1720, the rectangular bevelled top with re-entrant front corners and herringbone stringing, later inset with a baize lined writing surface, above a bevelled herringbone banded drawer, shallow grooved apron drawer and recessed crossbanded cupboard door enclosing a single shelf, and flanked by six crossbanded and herringbone strung pedestal drawers and raised on a moulded plinth and shaped bracket feet with later castors, the oak back panel 19th century, old veneer repairs, moulding losses, replaced gilt brass swan neck handles, hinges and escutcheons, 27" wide, 19.5" deep, 30" high
