A FLINTLOCK AMERICAN LONG RIFLE, second quarter of the 19th century. 40 1/4 in., .50 caliber octagon barrel with brass blade front sight and notch rear sight; flat lock plate with stepped and pointed tail; lightly figured maple stock with brass furniture, the patch box with pineapple finial, small silver oval thumb piece, trigger guard, sheet brass rammer pipes, later wood rammer. Overall lg. 56 in. Condition: The rifle is coated in a thin layer of varnish, barrel is reconverted, lock is re-converted and action needs attention; stock has crack and losses along the rammer channel, missing inlay on the cheek piece. We are proud to present these objects to benefit the acquisition fund of the Fort Ticonderoga Museum.
