BIBLES, IN ENGLISH - BINDINGS The Holy Bible, double column, bound with book of Psalms and Common Prayer (both 1679), small piece torn away but present from one leaf (X3 OT), and loss to one leaf of Common Prayer, several 17th and 18th century inscriptions on endpapers (see footnote), contemporary black morocco gilt, covers and spine with all-over design of flowers, arabesques and flourishes with red and white morocco onlays, worn with small loss at lower edge of upper cover [Herbert 749], 12mo, Bill, Newcomb and Hills, 1679--The Holy Bible, title within architectural woodcut border, title fore-edge slightly frayed, a few leaves shaved, toned throughout, contemporary black morocco gilt, sides with 3-line outer border, roll tool inner border bird with flower in beak, enclosing central arabesque, spine tooled in 6 compartments, g.e., rubbed [Herbert 813], 12mo, Bill, Newcomb and Hills, 1689 [but possibly imprint fictitious, and printed in Amsterdam]--[HOLY BIBLE], ruled in red, NT title with woodcut vignette, lacks title-page, bound with Psalms (1657) at end, a few gatherings loose, some leaves frayed, contemporary blind-stamped morocco, worn [Herbert 656], 8vo, [Cambridge, John Field, 1657]--HOLY BIBLE, ruled in red, additional engraved title and 51 engraved plates (4 images to a page), contemporary morocco gilt, sides with panel design and corner-pieces, g.e., worn [Herbert 965], folio, Baskett and Assigns of Newcomb and Hill, 1723; and 2 others, seventeenth century Bibles, one in French, in contemporary stamped bindings (6) Footnotes: Provenance: First item, 'Cost 6d at London bought by E. Buyers' Premium and Charges
For all Sales categories, buyer's premium excluding Cars, Motorbikes, Wine, Whisky and Coin & Medal sales, will be as follows:
Buyer's Premium Rates
28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.
A 3rd party bidding platform fee of 4% of the Hammer Price for Buyers using the following bidding platforms will be added to the invoices of successful Buyers for auctions starting on or after 6th July 2024 – Invaluable; Live Auctioneers; The Saleroom; Lot-tissimo.
VAT at the current rate of 20% will be added to the Buyer's Premium and charges excluding Artists Resale Right.
