Barbour Re-loved x Baracuta Re-loved Quilted Liddesdale Jacket, Autumn 2024 A brand loved by subcultures, actors, poets and musicians, Baracuta's take on the Liddesdale is inspired by music and Wigan's Northern Soul movement. An all -over bespoke and commemorative patch series on both the outer and inner of the garment brings a strong and bold identity to the quilt's simple construction, creating a bold celebration of the energy and spirit, music brings into our lives. 'Music has always played a significant role within Baracuta as it is a brand that has always been adopted by subcultures and youth movements. When we think of music, the first sound that encapsulates the essence of Baracuta is undoubtedly Northern Soul, seen as a bridge between America and the UK. So, we revisited all the symbols and colours that characterised this sound and lifestyle and reinterpreted them uniquely while staying true to their historical roots.' It was an honor to be part of this project with Barbour, and we are proud to have contributed as a brand to this icon of the fashion world.' Luigi Bucci, Baracuta Size Large Footnotes: Barbour Celebrates An Icon: 30 years of the Liddesdale Jacket ● Autumn Winter 24 marks 30 years of Barbour's iconic Liddesdale Jacket. Designed and launched by Dame Margaret Barbour in 1994, it's become a bestselling icon in countryside and city alike – worn by everyone from royalty to rock stars, shepherds to bankers. ● 12 vintage quilted jackets have been lovingly re-designed and re-purposed by friends of the brand. These very special quilts are being auctioned off for charity, with all profits going to The Royal Countryside Fund. 'In 1994, there had already been a small number of quilts in the range. But it was the Liddesdale, with its distinctive lightweight diamond outer, capacious pockets and cord collar that really caught the attention of our customers. The Liddesdale is such a practical jacket – ideal for spring and autumn when the weather begins to change. I originally brought the Liddesdale in as a country jacket, but I knew very quickly it would also become popular in the city because of its versatility – it can be worn anywhere. I am very proud it continues to be a bestseller 30 years on.' – Dame Margaret Barbour, Chairman. Named after the Liddesdale Valley in the Scottish borders where Barbour holds its roots, the jacket is synonymous with effortless British style and trusted, quality craftsmanship. Originally created with horse riding in mind, its lightweight versatility is worn and loved by everyone from all walks of life – working just as well over a suit as it does over wellington boots.
