A Rare Waters Patent Flintlock Box-Lock Blunderbuss-Pistol By Waters & Co. Of Birmingham, No. 464, Circa 1781 With brass barrel and action in one piece, the former with two turned mouldings at the muzzle, side-mounted ramrod (missing) and folding bayonet beneath (locking-catch missing), the latter of hollow triangular section, border engraved action signed 'Waters & Co.' in script on one side, and 'Patent' on the other above the serial number, ring-neck cock (jaw screw and safety-catch broken), steel trigger-guard incorporating the sprung bayonet release trigger and engraved with a diamond-shaped panel on the bow, and figured butt of swelling octagonal section (some wear and light pitting), Tower private proof marks: on a modern wooden stand (2) 17.5 cm. barrel Footnotes: John Waters is recorded at various addresses in Birmingham between 1766 and 1788. Buyers' Premium and Charges

Buyer's Premium Rates
28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.
