A Cased Pair Of Irish 25-Bore Percussion Saw-Handled Duelling Or Target Pistols By Wm. & Jn. Rigby, Dublin, Nos. 7835 And 7836 For 1835 With rebrowned twist octagonal sighted barrels each signed in gothic script along the top flat and with bright bore, case-hardened breeches (nipple recesses with old pitting) engraved with foliage on top and each with three platinum lines and pierced platinum plug, foliate scroll engraved tangs and border engraved detented back-action locks, the former each with back-sight, the latter signed in gothic script on a scroll, foliate engraved dolphin hammers, figured half-stocks each with characteristic spur and chequered rounded butt with flat ovoidal pommel, reblued steel mounts comprising border engraved pommel-caps each with retaining screw centred on a foliate scroll, spur trigger-guards each decorated with foliate scrollwork on the border engraved bow, trigger-plates each with engraved pineapple-shaped finial, vacant silver escutcheons, barrel-bolt escutcheons (bolts replaced) and fore-end caps, set triggers, and brass-mounted ramrods each with knurled threaded cap over the worm: in original lined and fitted mahogany case with some accessories including associated Dixon & Sons brass-mounted powder-flask for revolvers with split-ring for suspension, the interior of the lid with maker's trade label (minor damage), the exterior (old split along the back) with circular vacant brass escutcheon centred on a circular flush-fitting brass carrying handle 21.8 cm. barrels Footnotes: Literature D.H.L. Buyers' Premium and Charges


For all Sales categories, buyer's premium excluding Cars, Motorbikes, Wine, Whisky and Coin & Medal sales, will be as follows:

Buyer's Premium Rates
28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.

A 3rd party bidding platform fee of 4% of the Hammer Price for Buyers using the following bidding platforms will be added to the invoices of successful Buyers for auctions starting on or after 6th July 2024 – Invaluable; Live Auctioneers; The Saleroom; Lot-tissimo.

VAT at the current rate of 20% will be added to the Buyer's Premium and charges excluding Artists Resale Right.
