A Regency ormolu mounted rosewood, satinbirch banded and line-inlaid centre or side table Circa 1815, possibly by George Oakley Of rectangular outline with canted angles, above one long mahogany lined frieze drawer, with a central mount comprised of addorsed palmette and honeysuckle flanking a rosette, with flowerhead mounted angles, on angled tapering square section S-scroll supports each headed by a rosette tablet and overlapping discs pendant mount, the stepped platform undertier terminating in downswept legs with brass lion paw feet and castors, 109.5cm wide x 67cm deep x 74.5cm high, (43in wide x 26in deep x 29in high) Footnotes: The use of striking Neoclassical mounts combined with distinctive contrasting of a lighter coloured wood (e.g. satinbirch) with a darker grained veneer such as rosewood are aspects reminiscent of the output of the renowned cabinet maker, George Oakley (1773-1840), who flourished during the Regency period.
