SEVEN WOOD NETSUKE OF 'NOH' MASKS AND SKULLS Japan, late Edo/Meiji era, 19th/20th century The three skulls, signed Jiro; Masakazu; and Masatsugu; and three of the four masks, signed Tamamatsu; Masakazu; and Jiro. 2 1/8in (5.4cm) height of tallest mask (7). Footnotes: Provenance: Collection of Col. Dean S. Hartley, Jr., USMC (1920-2010), by descent to the present owner. Col. Hartley was a scholar who published several articles on Asian art and, with his wife, Roth Hartley, collected Asian works of art from the mid-1950s until 2001.
