An Italian giltwood X-frame stool or window seat Probably 18th century, Florence With volute scrolled, foliate carved and overlapping disc-inset frames, each end with a central shaped and scrolled foliate cartouche carved with a lambrequin capped anthropomorphic leopard mask, each scrolled terminal carved with the head of a youthful classical male, the centre of the seat frame with a winged putto mask carved in high relief, the legs terminating in foliate wrapped lion paw feet, with ring turned baluster cross stretchers, the rails with two old pencil inscriptions: 'Firenze, No. 2' and a barely legible inscription which apparently reads: 'Langarno Giu(..?)n(..?)(.?), Domicilio', 97cm wide x 46cm deep x 72.5cm high, (38in wide x 18in deep x 28 1/2in high) This lot is subject to the following lot symbols: TP TP For auctions held in Scotland: Lots will be moved to an offsite storage location (Constantine, Constantine House, North Caldeen Road, Coatbridge ML5 4EF, Scotland, UK) and will only be available for collection from this location at the date stated in the catalogue.
