A 19th century and later blue painted commode In the Louis XVI style The shaped rectangular marble top above three long drawers flanked by fluted pilasters, on turned feet, 108.5cm wide x 53.5cm deep x 84.5cm high, (42 1/2in wide x 21in deep x 33in high) Footnotes: Provenance By repute Edward Molyneux (British, 1891-1974) Edward Henry Molyneux was a leading British fashion designer whose salon operated in Paris from 1919 until 1950. Condition Report Chips, scuffs and scratches commensurate with use. There is a larger chip / loss to the front bottom-left corner near the middle drawer. More visible chips to the feet. Another loss to the back left edge. Some fading and discolouration to painted decoration. Wear and rubbing to the handles, with some slightly misshapen through use. One roundel to handle lacking. Some shrinkage cracks, most noticeably to the interior of the drawers. No key. Lock mechanism to second drawer lacking. Evidence of previous woodworm which does not appear to be live.
