In Collections
A commemorative Hereford Fine china model of Prince Charles On the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, 1725-1975, numbered 25/75, on hexagonal base, with presentation plaque, 26cm wide, 22.5cm deep, 36cm high (10in wide, 8 1/2in deep, 14in high) (2) Footnotes: Prince Charles caused quite a stir in 1975 when he entered Westminster Abbey to be installed as Great Master of the most Honourable Order of the Bath sporting a moustache. Unable to shave due to the cold weather, he had grown a beard during a tour of the Arctic however, as he was in the uniform of the Colonel of Welsh Guards, this was not permissible. He shaved the beard but retained the moustache for the ceremony, before having to remove this too when he returned to the Navy later that day. Condition Report The figure is detached from its circular ceramic base. One lapel entirely missing from shoulder. Some wear to decoration, particularly to the hair. There is a hairline crack curving across the body, approx. 6cm, with associated losses. Some minor surface marks and scratches. The ceramic base heavily stained and glue residue from where figure was previously stuck. Underside with later hand-painted 'Modelld [sic.] by R. C. Beech'. Hexagonal base in good condition. This condition report is provided for convenience only and may not cover factors that a bidder considers important. Bonhams is not responsible for any errors or omissions in the report and all bidders must satisfy themselves of condition before bidding.
