Original vintage World War Two poster Britains New Spitfire - Design features a cross section style diagram of a pilot flying a Spitfire over land and sea. The illustration is numbered with a key in the bottom right corner along with a description of the Spitfire - With an even more powerful Rolls-Royce "Merlin" engine, the "Spitfire" enters the lists again, re-engined and re-armed. Points in Spitfire" design are its all-metal construction, stressed metal covering, outwards retracting undercarriage. Fixed tail wheel, radiator under starboard wing, are other points. Wing is 36 feet 10 inches; heig height, 11 feet 5 inches. The Supermarine Spitfire l was evolved from the seaplane which won the Schneider Trophy, for the third successive time and outright in 1931. "Achtung Schpitfeuer" are still the last words many a Nazi airman will hear. Before the Second World War Britains Royal Air Force sought to design a high-speed fighter plane to respond to the German Luftwaffe and appointed R J Mitchell and Joseph Smith to develop the Spitfire. Horizontal. Good condition, folds, creasing, minor staining. Country of issue: UK, designer: Unknown, size (cm): 49x74, year of printing: 1940s.
