Led by Laurie they have secretly fled the clutches of the powerful movie producer they're all connected to in various ways. He's known as K.L. - code for T.R. or Tony Richardson.' (Heilpern, p. 359). Whitebrook picked up the story: 'In The Hotel in Amsterdam, written as the debris fell from the fracas over The Charge of the Light Brigade (see lot 29), Osborne took 'malicious' revenge upon Tony Richardson by appropriating him as the model for the dictatorial film producer KL. a characterisation over which Richardson was subsequently "furious"'. (Whitebrook, p. 269)
